THE LIVING COMMUNITY OF FOREST

A forest contains Abiotic Components (Non-living such as air, water and soil); and Biotic Components (Living such as Plants and Animals)

The biotic components are broadly classified into the following three categories:

These three forest communities interact with each other through a sequence of chain known as Food Chain.

Food chain is defined as the linear sequence of living organisms in which every organism depend upon the other organism for food.

A typical food chain looks like this:

PRODUCERS➜CONSUMER I➜CONSUMER II➜CONSUMER III

E.G. PLANTS➜GRASSHOPPER➜FROG➜SNAKE

Think of two more examples yourself and write in the copies.
