HEAT -POST -8
Heat post 8
( Conduction part ii)
Welcome back to class. During the last class we learnt a little bit about conduction. Today we will learn that the extent to which heat is conducted varies from material to material.
....................................................................................................................................................................
Click on the link below to learn about good and bad conductors
https://youtu.be/14U58r8D4Qg
...........................................................................................................................................................................
Click on the link below that shows us once again that conductivity of heat varies from material to material. :

Click on the following link to learn more about bad conductors of heat:

Snow and ice are natural insulators. Once warmed, an igloo maintains its inside warmth with little more than body heat and the light of an oil lamp.
....................................................................................................................................................
................................................................................................................................................................
DO THE QUESTIONS GIVEN BELOW IN YOUR NOTEBOOK.
Q 20) Write an experiment to prove that water is a poor conductor of heat.
AnS) Experiment to prove that Water is a poor conductor of Heat.
...................................................................................................................................................................
Q 21) Define the terms given below-
a) A GOOD CONDUCTOR of HEAT :Materials that allow heat to flow through them easily are termed Good Conductors of Heat. eg.Silver, copper, Aluminium
b) A POOR Conductor of Heat: Materials that do not allow heat to flow through them easily are called Poor Conductors of Heat. eg.Water, air and glass
c) A Non Conductor of Heat : Materials that do not allow heat to flow through them. eg wood,, bakelite
d) An Insulator : A material that does not allow heat or electricity to pass through it is termed an Insulator.eg rubber
............................................................................................................................................................
HW
As a recap, watch the following video on good and bad heat conductors:
