WHY DO WE NEED TO CONSERVE OUR FORESTS?

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF FORESTS DISAPPEAR?

You can predict the consequences as we have discussed the usefulness of forests my previous blogs.
Some of these consequences are:

1. Oxygen-Carbon dioxide imbalance.
2. No food and home for animals
3. Soil erosion
4. No trees to hold rainwater causing floods
5. Heating up of the planet

We are losing most of our forest land to Deforestation.

The large scale cutting of trees is termed as Deforestation

Causes of Deforestation

What are the Human Activities that Cause Deforestation?

• Agriculture – small-scale and large scale farming

• Logging – cutting of trees for use as raw material

• Mining and urban expansion – clearing of forest area for the construction of infrastructure

• The construction of homes and other buildings for the growing population.

• The construction of roads, dams, and other infrastructure.

How Does Deforestation Affect the Environment?

The primary human activities that contribute to deforestation include:

1. Increased Carbon Dioxide Levels in the Atmosphere.
2. Less or no rainfall
3. Increased Air pollution and Soil pollution.
4. Animals losing their habitats and eventually dying.
