lesson-16 water (post -5)

Good morning boys ! Let us revise the lesson - WATER, by doing the following objective type questions. EXERCISES TO BE DONE IN YOUR NOTEBOOK- 14. FILL IN  THE BLANKS - a) The green cover of the Earth is due to ..plants............. b).  ...Drip............. irrigation is a good method to prevent wastage of water. c). ..Rainwater.................. harvesting helps to recharge ground water. d). The groundwater level water will ......decrease........if the water table goes down. e). Huge reservoirs of water inside the Earth are called...aquifer.......... f). The upper level where all the pores in the soil and gaps between the rocks are filled with water is called ..water table........... g). The continous cycling of water in nature is called  ...water cycle........... 15. WRITE THE SCIENTIFIC TERMS FOR THE FOLLOWING- a).Recharging of ground water by making thr rainw water to percolate into the soil.  ...Rainwater harvesting.......................... b). The process of s

Good morning boys ! In the last class you learnt about the reasons of depletion of the water table and the causes of ground water depletion. ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS TO RECALL WHAT YOU LEARNT- Answer in YES or NO: 1. Increase forest cover will result in lowering of the water table. 2. The water table will be lower in cities than villages. 3.When the ground water is pumped out less than the water that seeps in ,the water table rises up. LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THIS CLASS- By the end of this class you will be able to- -list ways to prevent wastage of water. -define term drip irrigation - list and follow ways to minimise wastage of water. - list the effects of water scarcity on plants Water covers 71 % of the Earths surface but its distribution is not uniform. Some places are water-rich and some are water deficient. The main factor that is responsible for the distribution of water on the earth is rainfall. WATER MANAGEMENT Since useable water is a necessity for all ,it

Lesson -16, water (post 3)

Good morning boys ! Welcome to the next class of science. Try to  recall what you learnt in the last class by answering the following questions- GIVE THE SCIENTIFIC TERMS FOR THE FOLLOWING- 1.The minimum depth in the soil where all the pores are filled with water. 2. Huge reservoirs of water inside the earth. 3. The process of seepage and percolation of surface water into the grounnd. LEARNING OUTCOMES OF TODAYS CLASS ARE- By end of this class you will be able to- -list the factors that affect and cause the lowering of the water table -list the major causes of ground water depletion. The factors that affect the water table are - .average rainfall  . use of ground water. The causes of the lowering of water table are- .  poor rainfall .excessive use of groundwater ( when the groundwater pumped out is more than the water that seeps in, the water table gets lowered) CAUSES OF GROUNDWATER DEPLETION ( depletion of water table )  The major causes are- 1)  Increase in popu

Good morning boys! In last class you learnt about the avaliability of f resh water on the Earth and the forms of water  ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS TO CHECK YOUR PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE- 1. How is water useful to the body ? 2.How much per cent  of fresh water is available on the Earth  for human consumption ? LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THIS LESSON - By end of this class you will be able to- .draw and label the water cycle .define the terms  water table ,ground water ,infiltration, aquifer.  WATER CYCLE  The continuous cycling of water in nature is called water cycle. Water keeps changing its form during the process of the water cycle From the picture above ,it is clear that the process involved in the water cycle are- evaporation/ transpiration , condensation, precipitation.   TRY THIS! . a) In the diagram of  the water cycle given below, which words will you use in place of 1,2,3,4? b) In which three forms does water exist in nature ? WATER TABLE Water table is the minim

Good morning boys ! Today we will start another new chapter- Water : A precious resource You know  the importance of water for survival for all living things. RECOLLECT... How is water useful to us in our daily life? LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THIS CLASS- By the end of this class you will be able to- -list the uses of water in daily life. -name the three forms of water and how these states can be  interchanged by changing the temperature.  We cannot imagine life without water.   About 71 % of the Earths surface is covered with water, out of which 97.5 % of the total water is in the oceans and sea and cannot be used for domestic ,industrial or agricultural purposes as it is very salty. Only 0.01% of fresh water is available for our use.     In many places there is shortage of water , resulting in water -crisis.    FORMS OF WATER Water exists in three forms -solid, liquid and gas . The three states can be interchanged into each other by changing temperature. HOTS! Sarita

worksheet -HEAT ( 15-5-20)

Good morning boys.Thank you for logging in. Today we shall be doing a revision worksheet on the chapter HEAT. You will be able to: recall facts and concepts to complete today's work revise the chapter LET US BEGIN: DO THE WORKSHEET IN YOUR SCIENCE NOTEBOOK Q.1  Fill in the blanks: Heat transferred by radiation is called_____________radiation. The degree of hotness or coldness of a body is called____________. The three modes of heat transfer are______ ,_____________ and ______________. _______________ and _________________ are poor conductors of heat. Convection current from land to sea is called ___________________breeze. Only ___________ and _____________ transfer heat by convection. For conduction of heat to occur ,the two objects should be at___________temperatures. 1 kilocalorie = ___________calories. Q.2  Define the following terms: a]conduction b] heat c] insulator Q.3  Distinguish between: Convection and radiation as met
